Letβs collaborate and bring your vision to life with impactful design solutions! π
User research is the foundation of every project I take on. I begin by identifying key user personas and understanding their goals, challenges, and behaviors. Depending on the project, I might use methods such as user interviews, surveys, and competitor analysis to gather qualitative and quantitative data. I also conduct usability tests on existing products (if available) to uncover pain points. This research helps me create empathy with the users, ensuring that the design decisions are user-centered and aligned with real-world needs.
My design process is highly iterative and focused on collaboration. It typically follows these phases:
First, I define the problem by conducting user research and meeting with stakeholders. I also analyze competitors to understand the market landscape.
I sketch out ideas and wireframes to visualize potential solutions. I create low-fidelity prototypes to explore multiple directions before refining the concepts.
Once a direction is chosen, I create high-fidelity mockups and UI designs in tools like Figma or Sketch, paying close attention to consistency, typography, and branding.
I conduct usability tests on prototypes, gathering feedback from real users. Based on insights, I make iterations to enhance usability and overall design.
Finally, I work closely with developers to ensure a smooth handoff, providing them with all necessary assets and specifications. I remain involved through development to address any design-related issues.
In short, design isnβt just good visual; it is a way of solving a problem effectively while fulfilling the business goals. Candidates are required to have a deep user empathy and business empathy which means throughout the design proceedings, I have stayed focused on both user needs and business needs. For instance, I work closely with product managers to make sure my designs are tied to KPIs, beaming in higher conversions or retention. I also design while keeping in mind brand guidelines and technical limitations, to maximize the feasibility of the design. This approach allows me to create designs that combine user feedback with business insights, resulting in visually stunning, strategic and impactful work.
I remember one of the most difficult projects I ever worked on was for an e-commerce client trying to redesign their mobile app. The most challenging was the improvement of the checkout flow with a high abandonment rate. The first step was to do user research β surveys, usability tests β to figure out where users were hitting roadblocks. We discovered that the payment process was complicated and overly lengthy. I generated ideas solving these issues and created several versions of the checkout flow, and designed a more straightforward and intuitive process to reduce friction. We witnessed a marked increase in user satisfaction during testing, dropping the abandonment rate by 30%. The project was challenging, both in terms of the complexity of the task and the need to work with limited resources, but through a focus on user feedback and iterative design we were able to deliver a highly effective solution.
My design process is underpinned by collaboration. I have experience in working with cross-functional teams such as developers, product managers, and marketing to engage different perspectives. To me, the best design comes from working collaboratively as each team has an important perspective to use. β[I conduct] regular design reviews, sprint planning, and feedback sessions to iterate & refine designs based on input from other team members. For example, in the ideation stage, I work with developers to overcome technical constraints without compromising the design integrity. This continuous collaboration guarantees that the result aligns with user and business expectations.
